Week 1: Corpus Christi King 54, United South 14
The Panthers (0-1) were without their top two defensive linemen and it showed, as King jumped out to a 19-0 first quarter lead and never looked back. King scored seven touchdowns via the run, three from Dezi Rodriguez. Rodriguez scored on runs of 58, 16 and 27 yards, respectively. King set the tone by scoring on the opening kick when Johans Bravo took it 98 yards to the end zone. South junior quarterback Robert Camarillo completed 37-of-53 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns. Ricky De La Rosa caught 10 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. Luis Castillo had the other TD for South, on a 3-yard reception.
