10.26.10: United South 3, LBJ 2
The Lady Panthers won 25-18. 22-25, 21-25, 25-14, 15-9. United South finishes the season with a 3-15 District 29-5A record, 11-24 overall. LBJ finishes its season at 3-15, 7-24. Leading the way for South was Leslie Campos (10 kills), Brandi Molina (five kills) and Ashley Gutierrez (15 assists).

Week 7 Football: United South 27, Nixon 13
United South overcame its mistakes and took advantage of Nixon's to beat the Mustangs 27-13 at the SAC on Saturday night.
Despite a number of flags (the two teams combined for roughly 20 penalties), drops and a costly lost fumble on the Nixon 1-yard line, the Panthers (2-4 District 29-5A, 2-5 overall) were able to find the offensive cohesion that often eluded them earlier in the season as they piled 393 yards atop the Mustangs (1-5, 1-6).
Leading the way for United South was junior quarterback Robert Camarillo who threw 40 passes and completed 28 of them for 292 yards and three touchdowns from behind the excellent protection of his offensive line, which allowed Camarillo to be taken down only once behind the line of scrimmage.
Camarillo's favorite target of the night was wide receiver Orlando Contreras, who had eight catches for 104 yards and a single score.
The Panthers were led in the running game by sophomore Luis Castillo, who had 51 yards on 13 touches.
Nixon’s offense was able to produce 283 yards, but few scores to show for it as the Mustangs were intercepted twice and fumbled a third turnover away.
The Mustangs took turns with Manny Martinez and Joseph Contreras at the quarterback position until handing the reigns entirely over to Contreras in the second half.
Contreras finished with 89 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 10 of 19 passing, while Martinez threw for 68 yards on six of nine passing.
Nixon had seven different players carry the ball and was led in that department by Ritchie Rendon, who had 41 yards and a touchdown on eight attempts.
Mustangs wide receiver Danny Martinez had his team's lone receiving score among his three catches for 45 yards.
Wide receiver Jesus Perez led the Mustangs in receptions with four for 77 yards.
Always good for a bit of trickery, the Mustangs got their biggest play of the night on a reverse-turned-wide receiver pass when Perez found an open Danny Martinez behind the defense for 34 yards on a play which was nearly a 90-yard touchdown.
One Nixon player was injured on the night. Defensive lineman Larry Banda was hurt during a fake-punt attempt and left the field on a backboard.
It's the second loss to injury for the Mustangs, who also saw linebacker Robert Rocha go down for the season with an ankle injury weeks ago in a game against Alexander.

10.15.10: Volleyball: Nixon 3, United South 0
Nixon continues to be the hottest team of the second round of District 29-5A volleyball and is making a strong statement heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
The Lady Mustangs have only dropped one district game in the second round and are galloping closer to a playoff spot after sweeping United South 25-11, 25-15 and 25-16 Saturday afternoon at the Richard Barton gymnasium.
Senior Rosalynn Velasquez paced the Lady Mustangs at the net with 13 kills while Sammie Garcia added nine.
Nixon's (10-5 29-5A, 20-15) defense was anchored by senior libero Celinda Verastigui with 12 digs.
The Lady Mustangs jumped all over United South in the opening game, taking a 16-5 lead. Velasquez and Garcia were monsters at the net as they toyed with the United South defense and recorded nine kills.

Week 6 Football: Del Rio 49, United South 24
The Rams jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead behind two Diego Cadena touchdowns before settling for the win. Del Rio improved to 3-2 in District 29-5A, 4-2 overall. South fell to 1-4 in district, 1-5 overall.
10.09.10: Volleyball: Eagle Pass 3, United South 0
The Lady Eagles swept, 25-13, 25-10, 25-12. Eagle Pass improved to 13-0 in District 29-5A, 27-5 overall. South fell to 1-12, 8-19.

10.05.10: Volleyball: United South 3, Martin 0
The Lady Panthers swept, 25-19, 25-17, 25-21. United South improved to 1-11 in District 29-5A, 8-18 overall. Martin fell to 1-11, 11-16. Leading the way for Martin was Michelle Perez (14 digs), Kassandra Blanquez (16 assists, three points) and Valeria Aguirre (nine digs, five points).
